Lola Tank and make it spooky!

Dressing up is one of my favorite activities, Halloween or not! This year we realized our family was in the perfect place to recreate the Addams family complete with baby Pubert, since the second movie is one of my all-time favs.

While I love sewing Halloween costumes, this fall has been particularly hectic for me, so I decided to make my Morticia dress out of a pattern I had been wanting to try anyways. The goal being I could easily incorporate the dress into my wardrobe post Halloween. I made the Lola tank and dress by Staystitch Pattern Company. I think the neckline on this dress is really cool and unique. I made it in a black rib knit and with some spidery lace draped around my shoulders it worked perfectly.

My current measurements are bust: 36, waist: 28, Hips: 41 inches. I went with the straight size 8 in view C and I really like the fit overall. I didn’t make any changes to the pattern and I didn’t hem the dress either and it hits me right at the top of my foot. I’m 5’1 so this might be a midi dress on someone taller, but for my it was full length and I would need to shorten the dress several inches to become a midi dress. Surprisingly it wasn’t difficult to walk in so I might just leave it long for now. I plan on making this again in the tank versions and the only change I might make is to just slightly shorten the armholes. Also, with the deep scoop on the armscye I was able to breastfeed the babe still, which is bonus points on any garment these days.

One thing I really liked about this pattern is that each view is printed separately. It takes more paper to print, and more time putting together, but it’s nice to have each view on its own and not chopping the dress part off to make the tank. Especially if you are going to make multiple versions and garments.

I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween! I can't believe it’s November now. What is time? Since it’s turning into denim season here, I’ll be making some new jeans next!
